Week 8 Term 3

We have had another busy week in Renwick 3 and as the term draws to an end the children are starting to tire somewhat. However we still manage to have plenty of laughs and continue to celebrate our successes.
More awesome teamwork from the boys and their lego creations!

During maths we have been exploring fractions. We have spent a lot of time discussing that when something is divided into halves it must be two equal halves. This was well demonstrated when we pretended to share Sam's birthday cake!

We have been talking a lot about honey bees because it is 'Bee Aware Month'. We have combined our collage theme with what we have been learning about the importance of having honey bees.

Next week...

We will recap on our vowel sounds and look at the blend 'st'.
Our tricky words will be night/once.
We will continue to look at fractions during maths time.
Have a happy and safe week!

Week 7 Term 3

At maths time over the last few weeks we have been practising our basic facts. We used pegs, ice cream sticks, our fingers and blocks to help us!

On Friday we caught up with our buddies from Room 6. We made a Friendship Circle by tracing around our hands, colouring and cutting them out.

Discovery Time on Friday was great fun. We were focussing on demonstrating respect to each other.

Next week...
Our sound will be the long and short vowel 'u'.
Our tricky words will be only/many.
During maths we are looking at fractions - halves and quarters.
Please remember Calendar Art orders are due back in by Wednesday. These need to be returned to myself.
Have a happy and safe week!

Week 6 Term 3

This week we have been learning about the long and short vowel 'i'. We made some fabulous 'Pink Pigs' to decorate our walls!

On Friday Simon came in to show us his musical instruments. We learnt lots about high and low sounds that different saxophones make. Some of us had to cover our ears! A special thank you to Simon as we really enjoyed and appreciated your visit.

Next week....
Our sounds will be the short and long 'o'.
Our tricky words will be thank you/how.
During maths we are looking at facts to make 10/20.
Please remember to take a look at the calendar art. Orders are due in by mid next week.
This Wednesday afternoon we have a paid union meeting at Nelson College. The majority of teachers will be attending. If possible it would be appreciated if you can pick up your child at 12.30pm. However, the school will still remain open for supervision for those children unable to be collected. Many thanks for your support in regard to this matter.
Thursday is our library day. There seem to be a lot of children with outstanding library books. Please help your child to remember to return their book to avoid disappointment in not being able to bring a new book home.
Have a happy and safe week!
