Week 4 Term 2

Well it has been a rather wet week for us in Renwick 3 but we have managed really well. We love the fact we can play in the special box of 'Rainy Day Toys' and get to watch a movie while we eat our lunch!

This week in our Mandarin lesson we were learning about our body parts. Haley put on a song for us which we knew in English called 'Shoulders, Knees and Toes'.

We have started our cross country training which is going really well. The big event is on Friday the 17th of June. This year the juniors will be running first. More details will follow with exact times.

We will be starting our cross country training next week. Please assist your child in ensuring they have appropriate footwear. We meet at the front field as a syndicate for a stretch and warm up then we jog one lap of the front field. Within a couple of weeks we plan to increase it to 2 laps as this is what will be required on the day of the cross country. The actual date of the school cross country is 17th of June. More details will follow closer to the day as we encourage your support and cheering!
A reminder that our library day has changed to a Thursday so all books must be back by then.
On Friday the Enviro group will be selling soup to raise funds for their various activities. Children have been asked to bring a vegetable to school this week to contribute. If you are free to assist in making the soup on Friday please let me know. Thank you for your support

Week 2 Term 2

At Discovery Time this week we had a pretty serious construction site evolving! There were hard helmets, clipboards, measuring rulers, Tony's garden waste and lots of negotiation, sharing, turn taking and positive comments to each other!

We seemed to have a week of construction! Earlier in th week the boys made this massive ship.

As part of our print making we decided to collect autumn leaves to make leaf rubbings. Fun times in the leaves!

It was great to see Kathryn again this term. Kathryn was teaching us how to dodge. This skill is used in lots of team sports. We were really great at it! There was lots of giggling and smiles.

Next week...

Our sounds will be v/y.
Our tricky words are one/you.
During maths we are doing simple addition to 10/20.
A gentle reminder if you are purchasing shoes for the winter can I please suggest that you buy shoes with velcro or shoes that your child can put on and take off independently. As you can imagine with the winter months the grass becomes wet and muddy. The children are then required to take their shoes off to come into the class. Lace up shoes are generally a bit too tricky.
Please note our library day has changed to a Thursday so all books need to be returned proir to then.

Have a happy and safe week!

Week 1 Term 2

Welcome back to Term 2!
This term we welcomed Tory who is the new teacher in Renwick 1. She came all the way from the U.K. especially to be with us. At the moment because there are only 2 students in Renwick 1 they are joining in with us.
We started the week learning all about the sound 'j'. It seemed appropriate that we made jelly to cement our learning! We saved this special treat until Friday Funday. We had to make sure that Neroli and Tory did not forget their promise so we reminded them daily!

This term we for art we are learning about printmaking. We used our fingerprints to create our work.

During maths we have been recapping on our numbers 1 to 10. We made a tower of 5 blocks to help remind us all the numbers that go together to make 5.

Next week...
Our sounds will be ay/th.
Our tricky words will be play/they.
During maths we will be making the number 10.
Our library day has changed to Thursday therefore all books are due back by Thursday.

Have a happy and safe week!
